Rope International

Rope was founded in 2009 by myself Dominic Whittle and David Fooks. Together we form a collective in which we collaborate together of larger scale projects.

Rope can cover all aspects of design from web, development, ident, print and film to marketing, interpretation and interior design, shop layouts and signage.

Currently Rope International has established the ‘A Work A Week’ project in which every week each designer creates a poster which is based around a thematic predetermined by the firm which is collected for an annual exhibition.

MANIFESTIO

There is another world that lies beneath the discarded image, a sense that the image is part of a story that exceeds it borders.  The scratches and folds in a pair of lips that the past owner created whilst cleaning the coffee off his desk makes these objects and imagery talk to us.  Their voices reflect off the page and give us our own sense of personal nostalgia.  When we collage the image with juxtaposing images these voices are intertwined like a piece of rope to send mixed messages, messages of humour, frustration, love and hate.  The strands or threads of the discarded world of consumerism give us the opportunity to change the processes and perceptions of the design world. The method of collaged consumerism gives personality and life to design.  It gives the graphic industry a chance to change the perception that we as graphic designers exist to serve.  From this day we stand to tell you we will not serve, but provide.  As an artist gives to the world, we as designers will also give, for as much as we design, we create.  No longer shall we slave to create the ‘next big thing’.  We exist not for the client who needs our eyes but for the world that needs to be questioned and evolved.
